All-Star Lineup! XCMG Rotary Drilling Rig Contributes to the Construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway!
In the snowy plateau and deep mountain valleys, XCMG rotary drilling rig is undertaking extreme construction to support the construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway.
The Sichuan-Tibet Railway is hailed as a marvel of human engineering. It's the second railway to Tibet within China and is a national key infrastructure project. The challenges of constructing this railway far surpass those of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
Wherever the nation has needs, XCMG equipment is there to answer the call. Since the commencement of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway project, various XCMG equipment have been deeply involved, earning high praise for their quality and service. In particular, on the section from Litang to Nyingchi, XCMG rotary drilling rigs have achieved an impressive new equipment adoption rate of over 90%, featuring a wide range of models from 24-ton meters to 70-ton meters. It's safe to say that it's an All-Star family in action.
Recently, the piling work for the west bank bridge of the Bodui Zangbu Bridge along the Sichuan-Tibet Railway has reached a significant milestone, with a total length exceeding 70,000 meters. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the XCMG rotary drilling rig, which, since their successful trial piling in 2022, has conquered the challenges of high altitude and frigid conditions, effectively leveraging their cold resistance and hard rock drilling capabilities.
As understood, the Bridge is located within the national geological park known as Pomi County, with an elevation of approximately 3,000 meters. Stretching over 13.9 kilometers, it is the longest bridge in the section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway from Chengdu to Nyingchi.
The eastern bank of the river, being closer to the mountains, presents a more complex geological formation with densely scattered pebbles and large boulders. The pile diameter is 1.25 meters, and the depth ranges from 30 to 50 meters. The boulders consist of granite with a hardness of around 120Mpa, and the hardest could reach up to 150Mpa, making it exceptionally difficult for traditional piling machines to penetrate and causing low rock-breaking efficiency, ultimately affecting the construction progress.
Faced with this formidable challenge, the project team unanimously decided to call upon XCMG for assistance. That's when the XCMG XR280E rotary drilling rig came into action, equipped with a power head featuring standard and rock entry modes tailored for soil and rock layers. It is equipped with an automatic rotation function, enabling continuous speed adjustment in both standard and rock entry modes, ensuring efficient drilling. At the Sichuan-Tibet Railway construction site, it has achieved the remarkable result of completing holes within 1-2 days, winning unanimous praise from customers and the project team.
