XCMG Rotary Drilling Rigs Contributing to Drilling the Granite Formation in Guangzhou Clean Energy Storage Base Project

Guangzhou, also known as the goat city with flower city reputation, boasts a crystal clear sky and beautiful scenery. The golden and shining masts of XCMG rotary drilling rigs stand tall, as if holding long tassels in the hands, breaking through the soil and drilling deep into the ground.

In Phase II of the headquarters and production base project of Greater Bay Area Technology,  over 10 XCMG rotary drilling rigs, including XR360, XR360E, XR400D, and XRS1050, are deployed to contribute to the construction of a new clean energy storage base in the Greater Bay Area. The project involves pile diameters ranging from 0.8m|2.6ft to 1.6m|5.2ft, with pile depths ranging from 18m|59.1ft to 46m|150.9ft. The geological conditions at the site are mainly mudstone and granite of high hardness, making it difficult for hole-boring and drilling.

XCMG’s XR360, XR360E, and XR400D rotary drilling rigs, which participate in project construction, are known in the industry as experts in hard rock pile driving. The XR360 series and XR400D rotary drilling rigs from XCMG are powerful, achieving the maximum drilling depths of 102m|334.6ft and 109m|357.6ft respectively. The rotary drives of the two rig models are both equipped with regular and rock drilling modes making it fit for soft soil and rock layers drilling, thus improving working efficiency. With the large triangular luffing design, XRS1050 enjoys high rock breaking capability, making it ideal for deep pile construction in hard rock layers.

At the project site, 10 XCMG rotary drilling rigs maintain an ultra-high construction speed of averagely one machine for three piles per day, and a first-pass hole formation rate of over 95%. Further information gathered from the project site shows that compared with other brands’ rotary drilling rigs participating in the project, these 10 XCMG large-tonnage rotary drilling rigs are able to complete half a pile more per day on average, thus accelerating the project progress.
