On Jan.9, 2022, the hydraulic pipe jacking machine – XDN1200H achieved a phased victory.

The project length was 1900m (6233ft) and drilling in complex stratum conditions through quicksand, slime and gravel with abundant ground water. One little mistake would easily generate safety risks such as evacuating collapse, blocking pipes and locking up, etc. Furthermore, the tight construction period was a great challenge for contractors and equipment.

XDN1200H was equipped with integrally sealed hydraulic motor and gearboxes for good waterproof and moisture-proof performance. Double pumps worked together to lead great efficiency and short construction period. And the infinitely adjustable rotating speed of boring head and cutting speed were highly consistent with the needs of construction. Also, the strong adaptability to the stratum helped a lot.

The pipe jacking machine would work in bad conditions with -30℃(-86F) temperature, so the first barrier was how to resist low temperature, especially issues like pipeline freezing and abnormal operation of equipment.Since the project started, the technical team conducted full tracking and site guidance, and set up a detailed construction plan for customers as well as prevention measures for staff, goods, equipment insulation and pipeline antifreeze.

To address issues met in the construction site, the team optimized the method of pipe jacking machines and provided one-to-one training for operators, strengthening the link between them and machines and ensuring vertical construction.

Under the scientifically strict construction method and the meticulous work of XCMG’s on-site personnel, the machine successfully worked through the earth within 10 days for a 100m well, with fastest speed of 40min/shaft (3m).
