Recently, the rail-highway bridge project of Ma’anshan Yangtze river, the world's first extra-large diameter (4m OD) foundation group project in inland rivers was completed.
It will set a number of world records in the construction industry, with combined features of extra large scale, extra-large double main span, extra high tower, and extra-large diameter bored pile.
There are 132 units of extra large diameter bored piles with a diameter of 4m in the three main tower pilers Z3/Z4/Z5. The pile foundation construction is jointly constructed by the large tonnage rotary drilling rig XR800E of over 55 tons.
As the first step, XCMG XR580 and XR600E rotary drilling rigs installed with 3m OD rock buckets were utilized in turn to drill 3m diameter holes through the rock stratum to ensure the verticality of the hole.
Then, XR700E and XR800E rotary drilling rigs were mobilized to enlarge the holes with 3.5m and 4m diameter drilling tools to ream the hole. The mobilization of multiple drill rigs helps ensure the drilling efficiency in this special project.
In Z4 tower, XCMG rotary drill rigs created a new record of drilling speed in extra large diameter piles of bridge project in China. It only took 7months to complete 60 pieces of piles with diameter of 4m (13ft) and drilling depth up to 103m (338ft).
Geologic condition: mainly weathered silty mudstone and weathered argillaceous siltstone, with a strength of up to 90Mpa.
