XCMG XR600E Rotary Drilling Rig Contributes “the Best in the World”

The Yuwan High-speed Railway Shituo Yangtze River Bridge is a combination of many world firsts and bests. The XCMG XR600E large-tonnage rotary drilling rig built a solid foundation for the bridge, achieving the remarkable milestones.

The No.6 main tower of Shituo Yangtze River Bridge is 253m|830ft high, which is the world’s highest duplex main tower. The main span is 608m|1,995ft, making it the world’s largest public-railway co-layered split-span hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge.

XR600E is XCMG E-series super large tonnage product, which is widely used for borehole drilling operation of cast-in-site piles in super large diameter, super deep and super hard rock engineering constructions, especially the large bridge projects. It adopts large vertical plate structure slewing platform, large triangular structure luffing, overhead main winch, sectional solid drilling mast, vertical pin type rotary drive structure, etc., to ensure the stability and reliability of the whole machine operation.

The XCMG XR600E rotary drilling rig arrived at the site, firm and steady, towering like a standing giant. XR600E participated in the construction of No.6 main pier pile foundation with tasks of 60 bored piles of 3m|10ft diameter and 20m|65ft pile length. The foundation piles of the pier were designed as embedded rock piles. More than 40 sets of XCMG large equipment were in full swing, the project used rotary drilling rig for borehole construction and underwater concrete pouring process. 

At the very beginning of the project preparation, in order to ensure the effective implementation of the plan, the client Mr. Luo went to XCMG Foundation with the construction demand, seeking for the most suitable machine for this project. After analyzing the location of the jobsite and deducing several construction schemes, XCMG customized a masterpiece for the customer XR600E rotary drilling rig. XR600E has also become the largest tonnage rotary drilling rig at the construction site of Shituo Yangtze River Bridge Project.
